Bio
Born in Baltimore, MD where her father worked as a Master Jeweler and later opened his own jewelry store, Adriana Cesar began designing jewelry at an early age alongside her father.
Adriana’s other early creative endeavors were also influenced by her family. Her grandmother was a seamstress, which ignited her interest in fashion. Her mother had a background in pastry art, which inspired Adriana to seek out other creative opportunities, both in and out of the kitchen. Immigrating to America from Brazil, Adriana’s parents passed on their love for futebol (soccer), which sparked her heavy involvement into sports to this day.
Adriana sharpened her multi-layered sense of creativity and business prowess at The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) where she majored in Visual Communications and Graphic Design.
After earning her Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree, Adriana gained visual communications and graphic design experience as a Senior Graphic Designer at a major American defense contractor specializing in homeland security and other government markets throughout the world. In this role, Adriana was responsible for managing and developing strategic communication materials with impact. Her designs appeared on web sites, brochures, packaging, logos, brand identities, illustrations, and in trade shows.
In 2009, Adriana was inspired to join the competitive fitness industry as a Bikini and Figure athlete. Since then, she has competed in eight shows with several first place wins and has become a fitness model who has been featured in magazines such as: Iron Man Magazine and Muscle Bombshell. In addition she was an ambassador for lululemon, brand representative for nutrition companies: Vega and OhYeah! and was a Fit Model for sportswear giant, Under Armour.
Inspired by her experiences as a competitor, she found yet another calling as a lifestyle coach and personal trainer whose spirited passion for health, fitness, and well-being has allowed her to make a significant mark in the fitness industry.
In 2011, using her high standards of performance, fitness, and nutrition, she founded The Urban Athletica (www.theurbanathletica.com), an online fitness magazine that delivers effective fitness tips and success stories to a growing national audience of fitness enthusiasts.
Most recently, combining her skills and experience in design, marketing, and health, Adriana has catapulted her career with the launch of her own freelance business as a Marketing/Brand Consultant. Wearing many hats – a designer, marketer, and strategist – she is destined to create, design and deliver. As she begins this new chapter, she is currently working with her father at Baltimore-based Joao Cesar Jewelers, Inc. (http://www.cesarjewelers.com/) where she is designing her own jewelry line, styling, and marketing.
